It has been a while my friends

It has been a while since I've posted anything but I have a few new products that I have tested coming up. Plus I saw New Moon last night so I might write a review about that.

Wake up to Make up

As I was sitting in my room trying to organize all my make up, I started thinking about why women care so much about a product. I think it starts with the idea of make up. If you are feeling insecure about your self you can change it. You can actually see an improvement right in front of your eyes with a flick of the wrist, with the flick come empowerment, that you can see and when you see it, you believe it.

Aw the power of make up.

Can we even dye my eyes to match my gown...

No Dorthory.  We can paint our nails. I have to admit a few things to my readers, I'm obsessed with quoting lines from movies and getting a bigger kick out of people reactions to them. I also am willing admit to loving Broadway, and the fabulous show tunes. Latest Obsession, Rimmel 60 seconds nail polish. The reason I brought up my love for Broadway was that the names of the nail colors were kinda funny, the two I bought were Deliciously Dark, and Red Carpet. I might be the only one who gets a kick out of it that but thats life and I love it. All in all I'm in love, it really did take 60 seconds to dry I counted. My very first experience with nail polish I was 3 and we lived in Las Vegas, I was in my moms room and I found the bottle, I remember seeing her and my grandma paint their nails. So I thought I could do it, I was good up until my mom caught me and startled me, which then the bottle spilled down my leg and on her bed spread. I still remember the shade of pink and that it was Revlon. I think Rimmel would have saved me at that time in my life.

The Results are in Ladies!!

As most of you know I was trying out which mascara I liked the best, I had a wide range of them and compared them on a few things. 1. Smudge proof   2. Wearability (did it last all day)  3. Full luxurious lashes, and lastly 4. Removal.

The contestants: Max Factor 2000 Calorie,  Maybelline Great Lash "Blackest Black"Clinique  Lash doubling mascara, Almay One coat nourishing mascara and Trish Mcevoy High Volume Mascara in Jet Black.

I would also like to state before I go into detail about these products that this is based off of using each and everyone  of them for 2 days.

Max Factor, the reason I bought this one in the first place was I saw Max Factor listed as a credit for the "I love Lucy" show. Intrigued by this I decided to do a bit more investigating on this man who was a make up artist in the 1950's. Turns out he was the one who invented Lip gloss and the term make-up(which comes from "to make up's one face"). He did not start in the 50's but more in the 1920's as a cosmetician artist for the Russian royal ballet.  His name was not Max Factor but Maximillan Fraktorowicz. I picked out Max Faxtor's 2000 calorie on questioning if you consume 2000 calories it will thicken you up, would it do the same for my lashes?  (note on thicken up, if you consume 2000 calories in the same amount of time it takes you to put on the mascara less then 2 minutes) And yes this was my real reasoning for picking out that one. Let's start at:
Smudge proof: It did stay in place and no noticeable smudging at the end of the day. I will say that I was impressed so it passed.
Wearability:  It really did to seem to last all day no issues, so I'll let it pass.
Full luxurious lashes: I will say I was a tad disappointed, I really wanted my lashes to go from Mary-Kate to Jennifer Hudson, however, it did make them fuller but maybe more of a Kate Winslit. I do think that this mascara does have poetical I think if it was layered on a few more times and maybe used the clear coat before it could have been a tad fuller, but it doesn't quite pass.
The final round, Removal, wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, I couldn't use my normal warm water and washcloth I did need to use a make up remover.

Maybe its Maybelline Great Lash "Blackest Black"? I don't think I'll go into a huge back round story on this one, maybe because it's late or maybe because this one is always highly talked about not only in Glamour but in just about every magazine I've ever picked up. This one somehow is always top of the charts in make-up land. Straight to it, I'm a water works, I'll be the first to admit I get teary eyed at the most random times, and sometime just out of one eye.
Smudge Proof: not so much with this one, I felt that I always had to be on the look out and wipe my eyes so sadly failed Smudge proof.
Wearability: I did have to touch up at about lunch but for the most part my lashes stayed very nicely,  I will say pass.
Full luxurious lashes: This did very well with very few coats, so I can see why this is a must for some. I did enjoy the almost hollywood glamour I could feel with every blink of my lashes.
Removal: You really need a make up remover with this one, otherwise it gets all over with the washcloth.

Clinique  Lash doubling mascara, I chose this one because one of my friends speaks very highly of Clinique, but I guess when you work for them you sorta have to. Most people don't think of mascara when they think of  Clinique. Trust me I didn't as well. You mostly hear of their skin care line and the cute lab coats that the girls wear. (it's the 2nd most recognizable uniform, UPS is 1st)
Smudge Proof: This was a wonder for even my water works. No smudge at the end of the day, easily passed.
Wearability: It lasted all day with no need for a touch up. I will give this an out standing.
Full luxurious lashes: Not so much, this gave me the fresh face doe eyed my lashes just always look perky, look. Which isn't bad, for the I don't look like I need make up look. Does not pass for full lashes.
Removal: Super easy, warm washcloth.

Almay One coat nourishing mascara, this is the same mascara my mom used to use I thought I would give it a go. If anyone else was curious about the name Almay it was from the creators of this line in 1931 Alfred and Fanny May. Alfred was a professional chemist, and Fanny May was his wife, together they created hypoallergenic cosmetics.
Smudge Proof: No smudge at all, didn't have to wipe my eyes or any black debris. This Passed.
Wearability: No touch up's needed and lasted all day, very impressed over all.
Full luxurious lashes: So far fuller then Clinique and Max Factor. Not as full as Great Lash but very close.
Removal: I used my wonderful washcloth and the nice thing about the removal it wasn't messy.

Trish Mcevoy High Volume Mascara in Jet Black. Now I'm sure as your reading this, your thinking to yourself.. what?! I've never heard of this, well it has been my little secret but as all good things need to be shared. I first heard about this when I was working at Us Airways and my friend Snog and Blog told me about this amazing mascara, sure enough she got me hooked. I also knew we would be great friends because she knew what H&M was. The super cool thing about this is, it's a gel formula.
Smudge Proof: None what so ever, because it is a gel there will be no smudging.
Wearability: Lasts all day and the next if you really need it to.  Rain or shine.
Full luxurious lashes:  Not as full as fake but a nice full without making you look vampy.
Removal: You could remove this is the rainforest, in bed or anywhere else in between. Amazing gel can do wonders when it coats the lash it forms a little tube covering it, you can gently squeeze them off or use a wet washcloth.

I knew there was a powder for everything

I will admit I sorta have a hand washing thing... Maybe it is from work, maybe is it I like my hands to feel clean 100% every second of everyday. I'm not really sure. Today as I was in Fry's i noticed a bottle I've never seen before it looked a tad old fashioned and it also looked like something that I wanted in my house. Powered hand soap. What?! Was pretty much all I could say. After careful exception of the bottle and a sniff of the contains I was pretty much hooked. Seeing how the price was $1.99 I really couldn't pass it up. So of course as soon as I had a need to wash my hands (after dinner) I gladly opened this bad boy up.

You have to wet your hands pour the desired amount in and just rub together. It creates this light lather but it's also very gritty so you get a nice scrub, I wouldn't recommend this to people with very sensitive hands but when you want to wash your hands and just have them feel clean and fresh. I was very much amazed by this product and would recommend it when you've been washing dishes, dusting, or outside working on the yard.

Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows

Since living in Arizona you have to live with sun screen or live in the dark if you don't want to have a high risk for skin cancer. The one thing I've always hated was feeling very greasy, which might be why I've been very bad with my use of sun screen. Once I started riding my bike to work I had to re-think my old ways and find a sun screen that I could use and would use.  I did a little research on my own and found that sun screen has vastly approved its formula for a non-greasy affect. Now my problem was finding one that wouldn't cause break outs or have that classic 1960's sun block smell.  While I was reading about the different types of sun screen and what they promised to do, I kept hearing about helioplex, being a new comer to sun screen for your face, I found out that it protects against UVA and UVB sun-rays.  If you know me and know me well, you will know that I am very protective of my skin and what chemicals go near my face. I am also for the fight against wrinkles. The best article I found and seemed to help me the most with my new quest for the perfect sun screen for my face was this:
 http://jaxmed.com/articles/wellness/spf.htm

Written by Charles M Booras M.D. even though this was written in 1998 I found it very helpful
in explaining the difference for the UVA and UVB sun-rays.  Unfortunately  helioplex wasn't on
the market just yet. The break down of helioplex is that is has ingredients in it that make the
sun screen last longer. But more importantly help the stop of wrinkles. After the daunting task
of finding a sun screen that I would use, I came across Neutrogena, I'm very picky about the
kinds of product I will put on my face and have in the past used Neutrogena and found to not
only like it but love some of their popular products. I found that they had a "Sport Face" sun
block with SPF 70+ I know that’s a little high but I'm already brown and don't really need to
tan my face or let it be to exposed to the sun. The first day I tried it I was hooked, and now I
also use it for a daily moisturizer on top of the added sun block protection. It leaves no grease
or shine, and also has no real fragrance. Over all I'm highly satisfied with this product and
highly recommend it to anyone that doesn't want to feel oily. Added bonus the cost was less
then $10 so you don't need to break the bank to get a great product.

Baby Oil dilemma

One of my very favorite magazines that I don't think I can ever get tired from is Lucky. I have very fond memories of this magazine(started reading it when it first hit news stands). I will admit I do love reading and daydreaming about the very expensive beauty products that they all covet and talk about. However seeing how I'm young, beautiful and poor, I can't really justify spending a lot of money on something I'm going to wash off or sweat off. Every time they do talk about something that I can buy at any of my fine beauty aisles in CVS, Walgreen's, Target, or Wal-Mart I will consider.

It was in the July 2009 issue that they featured a $5 and under section. Most of the stuff in there I already knew about and thought they were smart for talking about those products but one of these little beauties I have never seen before. Gel baby oil. Geniuses right? I always loved using baby oil but I always thought it was more hassle then the worth. I know some of you may be thinking "what? how is that hard?". Well you have to get a washcloth then it drips all over the place and its just really messy overall not something I enjoy when I'm dripping wet myself. This gel is amazing, it still has all the amazing qualities as baby oil but without the mess and stress. You can squeeze as little or as much as you would like and it is 100% less messy then regular baby oil. It was nice to not have to stick around in the steamy bathroom it apply this over my legs and elbows. This is a product I don't think I can live without. To top it all off the price is  around $4  and completely worth every penny of it.

Welcome Welcome!

So I had this brilliant idea to start my own blog. Genius right?! I thought so, since I don't have enough to write about as it is. Lately I've had quite a few people ask me about beauty products, and other products as well. I somehow thought it would be a great idea to write about the things I've  used, tried, and applied.  Seeing how this day and age you use the internet for everything I might as well jump on the band wagon and put my good use to work.

Any questions or comments would be greatly appreciated!  Happy Reading...
